Ministry of Makers made Orwell trend in 2024 – 1984 turned into a must-listen dystopian drop for Gen Z
Challenge
Audible wanted to turn a 75-year-old novel into the most talked-about audio drama of 2024 in the UK and Germany without a hard sell. The goal was to create a Gen Z cultural conversation, not advertising.
Activation
We rewrote the rules of influence.
We created the Ministry of Makers, a TikTok-first rebellion where influencers reinterpreted Orwell’s world through their own creative lens.
VFX artists created glitch edits. Beauty creators designed dystopian looks. Sculptors and sound designers took inspiration from Big Brother.
More than a campaign, this was cultural surveillance. A coordinated creative takeover that got 1984 trending in 2024.
